From Thibodaux, Louisiana, comes a fresh face to the Blues music scene. A vocal dynamo Geminii Dragon has channelled her love for the late 60s and 70s blues and rock artists, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Koko Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, Janis Joplin, Cream and Led Zeppelin to name a few, into a ferocious mix of blues-rock-soul…. Blues on steroids!!!
At her most subtle she shows the storytelling quality of Joan Armatrading at her bluesiest, but deep down within she harbours a wild banshee screaming to escape, and escape it does. Like many ground-breaking artists who have come before her, Geminii Dragon deserves more attention for the bravery she shows to stretch the conventional boundaries and for blurring the limits of the multiple genres that she inhabits.
She is being compared to the likes of Tina Turner, Mavis Staples and Chicago Blues legend Koko Taylor but her murky blues infused sound comes directly from the bayous of Louisiana. She is sure to thrill the crowds at CRANFEST 2024!
